The possibility for play within public space, in its various forms, seems to be increasingly reduced. Safe shapes and vandalism-proof materials leave little to no space for imagination and eliminate a valuable aspect of play: taking risks. The space limits its associations with play to the point where it is no longer able to evolve freely and where the outlines of the game are dictated by fixed form, materiality, command, habit and use.
By playing with these outlines and having them relate to one another in various ways, the sculptures explore the relation between humans and play, and between materiality, tactility and imagination.
