Jarrold Saija 🇳🇱
As a visual artist, Jerrold Eliano Saija (Sittard, 1996) tries to capture memories. So that they don’t evaporate and we can experience, preserve and pass them on again. A memory is intangible. Yet it resides somewhere: in our bodies, but also in shared experiences, oral histories and archives. Drawing from these networks, Saija’s multimedia work builds a (re)connection to Moluccan experiences. With videos, sculptures and 3D models, among others, he forms a fabric in which his personal experiences and family history are embedded, as well as colonial traces that resonate.
