In my work, everyday objects such as vases and tables are recognizable. I imbue them with personality through a balance of contrasts: hard and soft materials, open and closed forms.
My recent wall sculptures consist of curved steel lines reminiscent of charcoal sketches, in which the search for form remains visible.
Some visual elements recur in my work, for example, a wooden rectangle suggesting a table or ellipses marking the top or bottom of a vase.
I studied at the Utrecht School of the Arts (1985–1990) in the Department of Fine Arts. Until 2020, I combined my art practice with coordinating taste tests at a research firm in Wageningen, and thereafter with art education.
After graduating, I primarily created three-dimensional works, mostly assemblages of various materials. Since 2020, I have also been creating wall sculptures made of steel.
I am one of the founders and remain actively involved with Kunstruimte 50PK in Ede.
